WHAT TO EXPECT
ON ARRIVAL
As these are live, perishable goods - you must be at home to receive and sign for your package.
Your seafood arrives in our silver - sun-reflective, wool insulated boxes! They have homemade ice-packs inside to keep the kaimoana chilled on their journey to you. Crayfish may arrive cool calm and collective, or wriggly and active, depending on the time of day — In the morning, they’ll likely be chilling, and if arriving later in the day, they will be more active as their nervous system warms up with the temperature. Don’t be alarmed if your crayfish have arrived early morning and are cold and sleepy! They are as fresh as they get.
That being said, if you are ever concerned about the state your kaimoana have arrived in - or if they appear dead and warm, please don’t eat, and do get in touch!
Do’s:
Open and remove your seafood from the box immediately upon arrival.
Place your kaimoana directly into the fridge to chill further.
Be sure to put them in a tray, as water will naturally drain from their bodies.
Pro tip: We clear out one of the fruit & vege draws so they can take priority and chill.
Don’ts:
Place the entire box in the fridge overnight.
Place the entire box in the freezer without removing the wool, icepacks and seaweed first.
Let the kaimoana sit on your doorstep.
Let the kaimoana sit in the box overnight.
